A new and exciting role has been developed to support the Electrical & Mechanical Project Manager within Fortis IBA Limited. The Process Engineering Technician will be responsible for assisting with engineering trials, improving processes and commissioning activities across our four sites in Hampshire, Oxfordshire and Kent. Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in engineering process improvements and projects. This may involve working on your own initiative or to specific instructions. Typical tasks will cover the following areas:
    • Commissioning activities
    • Process Improvements & trials
    • Development of prototype processes
    • Installation of improvements or mechanical components
    • Lab improvements to ensure accurate measurement and reporting of data
  • General administration tasks:
    • Data collection & presenting
    • Protocol writing
    • Arranging and overseeing trials
    • Tracking project activities and progress
    • Writing engineering reports that detail methods and findings
  • Provide necessary information and guidance to operatives and sub-contractors to enable them to work accurately, promptly and safely.
  • Support operational staff with specific production issues to resolve.
  • Survey mechanical systems and plans.
Skills / Experience:
  • Experience of mechanical and / or aggregate processing.
  • Strong communicator.
  • Creative thinker with structured and logical approach.
  • Demonstrates initiative, enthusiasm and displays a positive ‘can do’ attitude.
  • Excellent time management, organisation and prioritisation skills.
  • Excellent analytical, presentation and facilitation skills.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental (HSQE) department for a Health & Safety Advisor in our Quarries and IBA divisions. The position will monitor and advise on the company’s Health & Safety activities ensuring compliance with Health & Safety legislation, uphold the company’s HSQE accreditations, whilst promoting and supporting continuous improvement and best practice across our sites in the South of England. The role will primarily be maintaining a strong health & safety culture within our Quarry Products company, managing 3 sites across the South of England, but will give additional support to our other companies with compliance and auditing. Key Responsibilities:
  •  To ensure that the Company is proactive, up to date and complies with Health & Safety legislation, procedures and company policies.
  • To carry out internal audits of the H&S management system, and undertake site inspections.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses. Then subsequently, assist in effectively implementing recommendations and improvements to address root causes.
  • Promote a positive health & safety culture and provide competent and practicable assistance to personnel.
  • Provide reports (including monthly KPIs) and data on Health and Safety performance for the HSQE Manager.
  • Support maintenance of and improve the ISO 45001 certification.
Key Skills and Attributes:
  • Experience in a similar role and ideally industry (quarries and/or IBA).
  • Previous experience of conducting internal audits.
  • Previous experience of accreditation (ISO) audits.
  • Hold a Health & Safety qualification – NEBOSH General or equivalent.
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient on a variety of computer systems including Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication skills in both written and verbal English.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Self-motivated individual with strong problem solving skills.
  • Familiarisation with quality management systems would be an advantage.
  • Clean driving licence.

Fortis IBA Ltd are currently seeking to appoint an experienced Plant Engineer to assume responsibility for the maintenance and repairs across two Fortis’ sites (Ardley IBA Processing Facility and Calvert IBA Processing Facility). Reporting to the Unit Manager, your role will be to manage the preventative maintenance system, carry out planned, and reactive maintenance of the processing plants. You will be responsible for maintaining, and repairing our fixed processing equipment including conveyors, screen, and eddy current separators in order to reduce downtime and maximise efficiency while looking at continual improvement of the process. You also need to be confident with hydraulics, electrical repairs, welding & fabricating. Skills required to fulfil the role include:
  • Good technical knowledge
  • Computer literate
  • Clean driving licence
  • Work under your own motivation
  • Plan your own work load

Key Responsibilities Ensure all processes and procedures are followed correctly at all time whilst maintaining the highest standard in safe operations. Health, Safety, Environmental & Quality
