Fortis IBA (South East) are looking to appoint a Multi Role Plant Operator to assist and support in the safe, efficient and effective operations at our new state of the art Incinerator Bottom Ash (IBA) Processing Facility based at Ridham (Kent). This role will be flexible, it will involve covering a range of different machinery and duties to ensure the smooth and effective running of the site. Duties may change on a day by day basis to ensure business requirements are met. Site working hours will be:
  • 00-17.00 - Monday to Friday (to include 1 hour unpaid lunch break)
  • 00-13.00 - Saturdays
You may also have to work Bank Holidays if required. Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure that machines are in good, safe working order via visual and operational checks.
  • Safe and efficient stockpiling of materials on-site.
  • Have an ability to plan workload to minimise disruption to operations and help to achieve targets.
  • Maintaining standard operating procedures as required.
  • Use of two-way radios to ensure high levels of communication.
  • Comply with all HSQE policies and procedures.
  • Weighbridge operation cover.
  • The above list is not exhaustive, and the post holder will be required to undertake tasks as may reasonably be expected within the scope and grading of this post.
  Candidate Requirements:
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Punctual and reliable.
  • 360 Excavator ticket.
  • Loading Shovel ticket.
  • Telehandler ticket.
  • Process Plant Operation experience.
  • Weighbridge - experience would be an advantage but training could be given if required.
  • Laboratory testing work and sampling from process plant and stockpiles - training can be given if required.
  • Own transport.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Preferred experience - quarries, construction or waste recycling background would be advantageous.

We are seeking to appoint an experienced 360 Excavator Operator to support our processing facility in Ardley, near Bicester (Oxfordshire). The facility processes 75,000 tonnes a year of incinerated bottom ash from the nearby Ardley Energy Recovery Facility (ERF) into recycled metal and a secondary aggregate for construction projects. The successful applicant will be required to:
  • Operate a 22t 360 Excavator
  • Meet operational KPI’s
  • Carry out health and safety inspections
  • Report defects and manage small maintenance duties
  • Follow defined procedures and safe systems of work

We are seeking to appoint a Site Operations Manager at our state of the art IBA Processing Facility at Ridham Dock. Reporting to the General Manager, the Site Operations Manager will be based on site and will be responsible for the day to day management of the facility, with particular focus on health, safety and environmental compliance, operational performance and efficiency.  The role will also provide proactive leadership to and be responsible for the management and development of an established operational team.  The successful candidate will also champion a culture of continual improvement across all aspects of the operation. The successful applicant will be required to:
  • Lead and inspire the highest standards of Health and Safety, Environmental and Quality culture, performance and compliance.
  • Manage, lead and develop the sites operational team to deliver agreed throughput and yield KPIs.
  • Ensure site facilities and process equipment are maintained to ensure ongoing safe and efficient performance.
  • Mange relationships with key external stakeholders to ensure excellent service levels are maintained.
  • Contribute to the developments and execution of budgeting, strategic planning and continual improvement activities to provide class leading performance.
Candidate requirements:
  • A proven track record managing high volume, highly automated production processes in a relevant sector.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills are essential.
  • Good organisational skills developed within a highly regulated industry and experience implementing and executing standard work are essential.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Relevant Health and Safety and environmental qualifications are desirable.
  • Extensive knowledge of relevant legislation and a proven track record of quarry or aggregate recycling facility management is also desirable.

  • Role 1 – Dumper
